Empowered by the clear trend, we open the door to the future with intelligent technology. On September 20, the 2nd “Antai Symphony” Summit Forum of SJTU was grandly held in ACEM (Antai College of Economics and Management), Xuhui Campus of SJTU (Shanghai Jiao Tong University).

  Today's world is going through great changes unprecedented in the last hundred years, with both challenges and opportunities coexisting. To find new opportunities in the crisis and open up a new situation in the changes, the academic world and the industrial world need to explore new ideas and seek new development together. Traditional business schools need to break through the inherent circle and further strengthen the cooperation with industry leaders. In such a background of school-enterprise cooperation, this summit forum invited heavyweight industry leaders in the three major frontier fields: AI, new retail and mega health, to share with everybody the new opportunities for industries to break through and the new exploration of business reform in the new development stage.

Mao Junfa, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party committee and vice president of SJTU, recommended in his speech that, to grasp the certainty of education in uncertainty and find new patterns of talent cultivation without ready-made models, schools and enterprises need to cooperate in depth: in terms of joint cultivation of talents, joint construction of disciplines and interactive development are needed, to fill the cognitive gap in theory and practice; in addition, they need to promote integration of production and education, and trigger the innovation and upgrade in important fields; finally, the key to maintaining long-term cooperation between schools and enterprises is to build a benign circulation system with mutual support: both students and enterprises have their harvest, with mutual benefits and win-win result.

Chen Fangruo, the dean of ACEM, believed that this grand industry conference will be a brilliant event in the reform of ACEM. To construct a healthy, broad, and more energetic new business ecosystem, the crisscrossed channels should be broken through and the deadlock of separation between industries and academic circle should be broken, to form a new business ecosystem integrating theory with practice closely and allow both sides to influence and promote each other.

  Yang Jie, the secretary of the Party Committee of ACEM, looked into the prospect of further cooperation and development of academic circle and industries, hoping that future education technology can combine problem orientation with customer orientation, since the problems of customers are the demands in the industries.

   Liu Shaoxuan, the vice dean of ACEM, as the guest host of this event, emphasized that the Industry Community Class launched by ACEM last year broke through the barriers among disciplines, organizations and industries, started a new situation of integration between industrial research and business reform, and was really a creative move. The new session of Industry Community Class focuses on the three major frontier fields, and will surely supply more excellent talents to those specialized, refined, unique and innovative industries and enterprises.

Secretary Wang Xingpeng, as a special guest, brought up the concept of hospital quality evaluation based on big data and application of AI from the perspective of promoting high-quality development of municipal-level hospitals in Shanghai, in hope of exploring and building a multi-index integrated evaluation system that meets national standards, characteristics of industry and local management requirements, and fully shows the quality of hospital.

01 Theme forum on AI

In the session of AI theme forum, Jiang Ping (co-president of Mininglamp Technology), Li Feifei (vice president of Alibaba Group), and Zhang Shaoting (vice-president of SenseTime) gave wonderful keynote speeches on the progress and breakthrough achieved by the enterprises in terms of AI.

  Jiang Ping believed that digitalization is an inevitable path after the epidemic. For the variability, uncertainty, complexity and fuzziness brought by the epidemic, the digital reconstruction in the post-epidemic era can be divided into three steps: data online, exploratory analysis and intelligent decision-making. Facing the human-machine cooperation era, what's the most important is to empower the organization by means of data.

According to Li Feifei, the deep learning system of AI is essentially driven by data. When there is a great breakthrough in computing power, the development of AI can be promoted strongly. And cloud computing will accelerate the evolution of database and big data system. The occurrence of the epidemic makes AI, cloud native technology and big data more important. The critical technology is the integration of big data and database, cloud-native plus distributed.

Zhang Shaoting shared the construction progress of SenseTime in the field of smart health-care: by connecting the five major segments including government & regulators, medical institutions, patients, pharmaceutical enterprises and medical insurance/insurance, they formed big data of smart health-care, provided AI smart solutions for different clinical directions, empowered construction of medical alliance and hierarchical medical system with 5G, distributed high-quality medical resources to lower levels via AI to promote the grass-roots medical level, and provided better and more convenient medical services for the people.

02 Theme forum on new retail

In the era of digital economy, how to use technology to drive new business scenarios? Long Wei (co-founder of dianping.com), Pu Shaohua (chairman of Bright Dairy & Food Co., Ltd.), and Yu Le (co-founder of Dingdong Maicai) shared their ideas in depth in the theme forum on new retail.

In the opinion of Long Wei, new retail can be divided into three stages: the first stage is O2O, in which people and services are connected; the second stage is unmanned retail, which drives AI face recognition technology and upgrades the traditional retail, though it is still at the phase of early exploration; and the third stage is new-retail e-commerce, in which big data and cloud computing are used to reconstruct business scenarios and increase the efficiency, and long-term data relationship with users can be built up.

Pu Shaohua introduced the thinking and innovative development path of new retail at Bright Dairy & Food. Bright Dairy & Food has always been closed tied with the changes in retail mode and accelerated the digital transformation, but more focus should be put on the reform of process and mode, in hope of bringing more convenient and diversified solutions to consumers.

Yu Le shared the business logic and cognition behind Dingdong Maicai which rose against the trend during the epidemic. She explained that Dingdong Maicai split out front-end warehouses nearest to community users from B2C link, so that fresh commodities can be delivered to users extremely fast.

03 Theme forum on mega health

The outbreak of COVID-19 drove the booming development of mega health sector. Qu Jieming (secretary of Party Committee of Ruijin Hospital), Zhang Wenhong (director of Infectious Disease Department of Huashan Hospital), and Yu Rong (chairman of Health 100) clarified the reform and exploration in mega health sector from various dimensions.

Qu introduced the construction progress of Internet hospital. Many traditional hospitals, including Ruijin Hospital, are trying to combine online health-care with traditional hospitals in an organic way, and construct a new mode of medical and health service via Internet + hospital + doctor.

Regarding this global pandemic of COVID-19, Zhang said that the transmissibility of COVID-19 is extremely strong, the second wave of international outbreak is inevitable, and China still faces the risk of imported cases. COVID-19 is especially dangerous to the elders. Although the newly developed vaccine will provide protection for this part of the vulnerable population, it will still take about a year to reduce the threat of COVID-19 to the same level as that of conventional influenza with vaccination.

According to Yu Rong, health sector is a long-term industry. Nowadays, aging, chronic diseases and prevention will be the three key trends. Independent innovation, import substitution, industrial scale formation and forming of real industry leaders are the important direction and approach for the medical field.

04 Industry exploration is on the rise

On the site of this “Antai Symphony” Summit Forum, the guest also witnessed the official launch of the second session of Industry Community Class together. The three major fields of AI, new retail and mega health discussed in this forum correspond to the focus areas of the second session of Industry Community Class.

The Industry Community Class is an exploration of ACEM in conducting industry research, as well as an important deployment for fully implementing the strategy of “crisscrossed development and unity of knowledge and action”, to find the inherent law and future trend of industry development through research in various dimensions with industries as the carriers, and turn the findings of industry research at various stages into teaching contents.

In the past year, the first session of Industry Community Class gathered the consensus of elites, explored the true knowledge of the industry, promoted upgrade & reform and shaped personal value through on-line "Antai Cloud Sharing" for 30 times and off-line enterprise visits of different scales for 12 times. It is estimated that by 2021, ACEM will totally open nine Industry Community Classes, to study multiple frontier industries in depth, form a benign circulation of practice, learning and teaching, and construct a more energetic new ecosystem of business education with reform and innovation.

The 2nd “Antai Symphony” Summit Forum came to a successful end, and also witnessed the launch of the Industry Community Class with three new directions. It is expected that such a value platform, which gathers industry leaders, hard-core professors and frontier thinkers, will continue to express the voice of ACEM and contribute the strength of ACEM to industry development in the new era of great changes and “dual circulation”!
